You will get the dirty coins, but you can clean and shine them up to unlock the true beauty underneath. The other nice thing about these coins when compared to regular low-grade circ "junk silver" is that these have less wear and so you can expect that you will have about 1% more silver compared to coins where more metal has been worn away.
Just in: big bucket of over 49 lbs of Walking Liberty Half Dollars from an old-timer's hoard. These coins came in oily, dusty, and crusty. I just run them through soap and water to find what you see here.
A lot of these coins have a ton of detail. All of them are dark from sitting under what i believe was oil for DECADES. Indeed, the whole lot had about three Franklin halves from 1948, which tells me these were plucked from circulation and "hidden" in this oil through the mid-1940s.
I played around with various cleaners on a few high-grade examples and even got some luster to shine through. But honestly, I don't know how to do this very well, so have decided to offer them as-is. What you see is what you get. A roll of random 1940's high grade but dirty half dollars. Mostly P-mint, as this hoard came from Detroit area, but I do see at least some mintmarks mixed in.
