This piece displays an original dark grey silver color/tone, some light luster remaining in some areas and very nice visible details. The total mintage for this date & mint mark: 491,600. Weinman, his depiction of Lady Liberty walking towards the Sun on the obverse came to be one of the most popular designs in US coinage history.
The reverse features a bald eagle ascending from a perched position. Weinmans initials appear on the reverse below the tips of the eagle's tail feathers. Pieces struck in 1916 and some of 1917 display the mintmark (when visible) beneath'IN GOD WE TRUST', to the right of Liberty on the obverse. All other pieces brandish the mintmark on the reverse, towards the left hand side under the tree.
